With fans looking forward to old characters possibly making an appearance this new season on ‘Teen Wolf’, executive producer Russell Mulcahy made several hints that familiar faces could be dropping in.
"The people that didn't die, there's a chance they may come back. But I don't think we raise from the dead," Mulcahy said, while further clarifying: “As long as you have your head on, you're fine.”
Even cast members have had their say as to which characters could be making a comeback on the show’s fifth season.
"As far as actors coming back, there's always so many different forms in which they can come back, but that's all I'll say," Holland Roden, who plays Lydia, said in a brief interview with People at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas, last Sunday.
‘Teen Wolf’ season five paves the way for a senior year in high school for Lydia along with Scott (Tyler Posey), Malia (Shelley Hennig) and the rest of the pack. The upcoming school year is expected to bring on much more personal struggles for the characters in addition to the daily battles between good and evil.
Posey opened up about being excited to see how everyone deals with the transition, particularly in moving on after graduation.
“I don't think it will hurt the quality of the show at all. I think it opens doors,” the 23-year-old actor said. “We can do different things. Maybe we can go to college. We'll just transfer high school to college. We're not going anywhere."
Mulcahy does promise that the premiere of the fifth season will be one of the most action-packed episodes that the cast and crew have ever done; he also described the season’s debut as a strongly emotional episode.
“It really deals with the characters' hearts and emotions and the trials that they’re going through,” the 61-year-old executive producer shared.
Even Hennig agrees that, aside from being action-packed, the premiere episode will be so special that viewers might feel like they are already watching a finale.
Meanwhile, after the release of the ‘Teen Wolf’ season five trailer, fans have been questioning as to how Lydia, the Beacon Hills’ resident banshee, will have to deal with being locked up in Eichen House or some kind of mental institution.
Scott’s pack might also be adding a new member as Theo (Cody Christian), who is known as a lone wolf, is asking for protection.
The promo also shows people possibly wearing gas masks; they could be the new villains called the Doctors, as what the clues that have been teased may be referring to.
Another villainous character glowing bright blue could also mean more trouble for the gang. It remains uncertain, though, whether he or she is a member of the Doctors or is an entirely separate villain.
‘Teen Wolf’ Season 5 premieres on June 29, Monday, at 10 p.m. EDT on MTV. The promo video is available below.
