The television series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will be getting a brand new season regular come season three - Henry Simmons, the guy who plays S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Mack.
The character first made an appearance in season two, where he joined Adrianne Palicki's Bobbi Morse in working with a splinter faction of the organization behind Agent Coulson's back.
Mack is pretty distrustful of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s constant dabble with alien technology, and when season two wrapped up, Agent Coulson finally decided to put him in charge of supervising the organization's storehouse of unexplainable objects.
ABC Network's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is actually picking up strength and momentum, especially with exciting developments on the way. It left fans asking a lot of questions when season two wrapped up, and they have to patiently wait until season three begins before getting their answers.
Earlier, Luke Mitchell, who played an Inhuman named Lincoln during the second half of season two will be promoted to a series regular next year.
Before it became successful, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." almost got a spin-off that would have placed the spotlight on Morse and Nick Blood's Hunter.
However, Screen Rant truly believes that the "unsung hero" of the series is actually Mack, and that is why he truly deserves to be a series regular come next season.
Since the proposed spin-off show never happened, it's safe to assume that season two of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." was pretty strong, and there is a strong demand for Mack's story to be heard more.
There have actually been earlier reports that Marvel Studios' film and television divisions were in a quandary what to do with "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." but the show is pretty good now, thanks to all the work put in by showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen.
The first season aired on September 24, 2013 to May 13, 2014, while the second season started on September 23, 2014 and ended on May 12, 2015.
It originally received mixed reviews, then ratings steadily dropped. However, things changed as the show progressed. When new characters were introduced in season two, things got more exciting for the show and ratings got more consistent while reviews improved. Because of that, the series was renewed for a third season.
Aside from those mentioned, it stars Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet, Iaian De Caestecker, and Elizabeth Henstridge.
"The people who are ignored are the people I've been writing as my heroes from day one. With S.H.I.E.L.D., the idea of Agent Coulson as the long-suffering bureaucrat who deals with Tony Stark's insufferability is delightful and hits the core of something I'm also writing about all the time-the little guy versus the big faceless organization," executive producer Joss Whedon says about the show.
