Marvel Cinematic Studios does not seem to know where to take Hulk's story next, but fans seem to have a pretty clear idea about the green superhero's future and they even created a "Planet Hulk" trailer just to urge the studio to get going with a Hulk standalone movie.
The trailer was created by YouTube channel UltraSargent, and boasts of cleverly edited clips from "The Incredible Hulk," "Iron Man," "Thor: The Dark World," "The Avengers," as well as Ang Lee's "Hulk."
"Planet Hulk" is actually written by Greg Pak and first started in 2006, according to Cinema Blend, and the story centers on members of Marvel Universe's Illuminati, who voted Bruce Banner also known as the Hulk to be sent away from Earth because he was just too dangerous.
The Illuminati then decides to send Hulk away via a ship that would be launched into space. After passing through a wormhole though, Hulk ends up crash landing on a planet called Sakaar. He was not welcome at first, being imprisoned then forced into fighting gladiator battles. Eventually however, Hulk becomes their king.
The story is followed by "World War Hulk," where the green monster returns to Earth and seeks vengeance against those who voted to have him sent away.
The topic of "Planet Hulk" has actually been floating around for quite some time now, but Marvel seems hesitant to pursue it. At the same time, Mark Ruffalo, the actor who portrays Bruce Banner does not like having the doctor thrown out of the equation and just have Hulk around all the time. Ruffalo said that portraying just Hulk without Banner does not interest him as an actor.
Ruffalo added that there are some concerns with a Hulk standalone movie because of certain issues, but he is pretty gung-ho to do one should everything be cleared out.
"That's still Universal's property, so there's that issue," he told Collider in an interview. "That's a big impediment to moving forward with that. Now I don't think that's insurmountable, by the way, but I don't know where it's going from here for me."
When asked how many more times he will be seen on the big screen as Banner-slash-Hulk, the actor replied: "I think it's four now, but that could always go further. That could include different-I could show up in another character's movie; I could do Avengers 3 and 4; I could do a Hulk standalone; I could do a combination of those things. That's four or five, I think."
