T-Mobile has confirmed that the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update is now available to Sony Xperia Z3 users residing in the U.S.
The news of the update's availability was announced by the telecom company's product manager, Des Smith, through his Twitter account.
According to Smith, the roll out officially began on Wednesday and is being conducted in stages. This means that not all Xperia Z3 users in the U.S. will receive the update at the same time, International Business Times reported.
The update can be downloaded over the air and has a file size of 620MB. Through Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, the Sony Xperia Z3 will get a new Material Design, improved animation graphics, smoother user interface and new lock-screen notification settings. The update will also bring new features to the device which can improve its battery consumption.
In addition, with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, the Xperia Z3 will get a multi-user mode which will allow users to access their devices with different profiles. Users will also have the option to transfer their apps from the device's flash memory to an SD card.
For users who have already received a notification regarding the availability of the update, they can begin the download process by clicking on the "Yes Download" tab.
Then, after tapping "Install Now," the handset will automatically restart. The handset's original Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS will then be upgraded to the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with build number 23.1.C.0.385.
Those who haven't received the notification yet can manually check if the update is now available for their devices. They can do so by going to the Settings Menu and selecting About Phone. From there, they should tap System Update and click the Check Now tab.
The T-Mobile Xperia Z3 is the latest device to receive the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update. It joins other Sony handsets such as the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact, Z Ultra and the Z Ultra Google Play Edition.
