Dinosaur fever is really taking over the movie-making industry by storm, what with the upcoming release of Colin Trevorrow's "Jurassic World" starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, and now Disney Pixar's "The Good Dinosaur" is riding in its waves.
Disney Pixar has just released their first teaser trailer and poster for the animated film, which is directed by Peter Sohn and produced by Denise Ream, according to Coming Soon. "The Good Dinosaur" will hit theaters on November 25, 2015. The trailer showed asteroids floating in the galaxy and said, "Millions of years ago, an asteroid six miles wide destroyed every dinosaur on earth. But what if..."
The "what if" was left unanswered as the asteroid missed the earth, and dinosaurs were seen calmly going back to what they were doing. The animated film seeks to answer what will happen if the asteroid that would have wiped out dinosaurs had missed, and dinosaurs never became extinct.
Its lead character will be an Apatosaurus named Arlo, and the movie synopsis reads: "After a traumatic event unsettles a lively Apatosaurus named Arlo, he sets out on a remarkable journey, gaining an unlikely companion along the way - a human boy." Their epic journey takes them to a harsh and mysterious landscape, and Arlo learns how to overcome his fears and discover his true potential.
Those who will lend their voices to the animated feature include Lucas Neff, John Lithgow, Frances McDormand, Bill Hader and Neil Patrick Harris. Its director, Sohn, has already made his debut in another Pixar short film "Partly Cloudly," and he has also worked in their art, story and animation departments, and has also voiced the characters of Emile from Academy Award-winning animated film "Ratatouille" as well as Scott "Squishy" Squibbles from "Monsters University."
Meanwhile, producer Ream has earlier worked on the Golden Globe-nominated film "Cars 2" for Pixar Animation Studios, and has served as associate producer for Disney Pixar's Academy Award-winning film "Up." Add to that, Ream also has an extensive background in producing visual effects and animation for live action films.
Since Disney acquired Pixar back in 2006, it has gone on to create animated films such as "Wall-E" (2008), "Brave" (2009), and "Toy Story 3" (2010), among many others. "Up" and "Toy Story 3," in particular, were such critical and commercial successes that it gained Disney Pixar its second and third nomination during the Academy Awards for Best Picture.
