With the soaring success achieved by this season's "The Voice," it appears that the show might be targeting a wider audience as reports have surfaced regarding the possibility of adding a new judge to reel in the younger crowd. According to Hollywood Life, the widely popular talent competition might actually bring in none other than Canadian pop star Justin Bieber to the show next season.
An insider revealed to Hollywood Life that Mark Burnett has been looking for ways to up the ante next season following the success achieved by the recently concluded round. In fact, the source revealed that "this last season of The Voice had its finale be the least rated ever" so it comes as no surprise that "The Voice" aims to top this accomplishment.
"He wants to mix it up to get ratings up and get younger viewers to watch the show," the insider revealed, adding that one of the priorities of the producers in terms of next season's game plan is to alter the line-up of judges in the show. With this in mind, the informant disclosed that "one of the seats the show wants to fill is [with] Justin Bieber."
While this is good news to the fans and followers of the singer, it also means that one of the current judges will no longer return next season. "Blake (Shelton) and Adam (Levine) are mainstays and they will not be removed," the insider disclosed. Earlier this year, reports have been circulating regarding the "diva" attitude of Christina Aguilera. Radar Online revealed that no one in "The Voice" wants to work with the singer again, so some followers of the singing contest think that Bieber might be taking the place of Aguilera.
However, the source of Hollywood Life contradicts this speculation. "They have talked about pairing [the group] with Usher but they also would like to see the three guys [Blake, Adam & Justin] interact with a girl," the source added.
Should the said set-up be followed for next season, then the judge to get booted off the show becomes even more obvious. According to Inquistr, the Biebs might be replacing Pharell Williams. While no official news has been released regarding this information, some fans of the "Happy" singer pointed out that Pharell's wisdom and knowledge on the realities in the music industry should not be easily discounted. Moreover, it should be taken into consideration that Pharell was behind the grand winner this season as well as the only judge to have two finalists reaching the final stage.
