The lion and the dragon have been set to unite as Tyrion Lannister finally convinces Daenerys Targaryen to make him as one of her advisors, as shown in the eighth episode of the HBO hit ‘Game of Thrones.’

Tyrion, played by Peter Dinklage, made his case to Daenerys, portrayed by Emilia Clarke, as to how the two of them could possibly create a strong and powerful alliance.

After arriving at the city of Mereen as a slave together with Jorah Mormont, played by Iain Glen, Tyrion finally makes a huge leap as this is the location that he has been seeking to make it to since the beginning of the season.

Lord Varys, portrayed by Conleth Hill, did reveal that Tyrion was part of a group who has been planning for Daenerys’ triumph for the Iron Throne.

According to Glen, this new alliance will leave Tyrion highly impressed with the Khaleesi’s leadership skills while Clarke dropped clues that her character and Tyrion will become good friends.

"I reckon they'd probably get on quite well, because they're quite similar in so many ways,” Clarke said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "It would definitely be a meeting of minds, that's for sure."

In the latest episode, Tyrion explained to Daenerys that he deeply knows how politics work in King’s Land owing to the fact that he had once been Hand of the King.

After Tywin Lannister’s youngest child convinced the Mother of Dragons to spare Jorah’s life and was considered to becoming one of her advisers, he began pointing out the need to not only focus on the common people but to have the support of a powerful Westerosi house.

Evidently, Tyrion and Daenerys are well off with their support for each other; as Khaleesi has lost her advisors. With Sir Barristan Selmy (Ian McElhinney) dead, Tyrion could somehow take the pressure off on Daenerys through his practice ruling advice. He also has connections that could be useful for Daenerys when she tries to cross to Westeros.

Furthermore, aside from concerns relating to the Iron Throne, Tyrion has also been to the Wall and understands the growing need to deal with the impending winter along with the White Walkers that are to come with it.

Similarly, Tyrion needs Daenerys if he intends to bring down his sister Cersei (Lena Headey) as well as reclaim his rights at Casterly Rock, which the Mother of Dragons could give back to him if his loyalty to her does not waver.

Worse circumstances have also been in the way of Stannis who is stuck in the snow in his way to Winterfell; the Boltons who are holding Winterfell but are not necessarily welcomed by the North; and the Lannisters who have been divided across Dorne and a prison cell in King’s Landing.

With two more episodes before the end of the fifth season, ‘Game of Thrones’ airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.
