New rumors suggest that HTC is preparing to roll out the Android 5.1 Lollipop update to its One M9 flagship device. Through the update, the device will receive new features such as the Guest Mode and screen color temperature controls, according to Phone Arena.

Ever since the Taiwanese tech manufacturer released the One M9 last April, the handset, which currently runs on the Android 5.0 Lollipop, has not yet received any major software updates. Rival devices that came out on the same period, on the other hand, such as the Samsung Galaxy S6, have better OS-related features.

But according to a leak made by HTC ROM developer LlabTooFeR, the company is preparing to release a major update for its flagship smartphone. Although not yet confirmed, various sources are speculating that the update is the Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Through the update, the One M9 will get a Guest Mode feature to allow other users to access the device. In addition, they'll be able to control the screen's device temperature. Although this option is already available to One M9 users, they can only access it with the use of third-party apps, NDTV has learned.

LlabTooFeR did not provide an official timeline as to when One M9 users can expect to receive the upcoming update but sources noted that it might arrive within the next few months. Also, it seems HTC has been busy with rolling out other software updates for its devices.

Earlier in April, the company confirmed that One M8 users will start to receive the Android 5.1 Lollipop for their devices sometime in August. The update is expected to come with the Sense 7 UI, which was first introduced in the One M9.

In addition, the company also started releasing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its other line of handsets such as the Desire 816, Desire Eye, One Dual SIM and One E8.
