Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman first worked together in the X-Men franchise in the latter's film, 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine," and it appears that fans and followers of the two powerful mutants might just get to see them together in the big screen once more, according to Coming Soon.

When Reynolds was asked on the possibility of Jackman appearing in his standalone X-Men film, the actor expressed his hopefulness. "God I hope so, that would be really nice," he responded to the interviewer from News.com.au. Although the Wolverine actor himself has not provided any confirmation regarding the matter, Reynolds said that getting the former on board will only be a matter of perfect scheduling. "I dunno, we'll see," Reynolds said, referring to his inability to give a concrete answer on Jackman's potential involvement in the film. "It seems like he's open to it, but it's gonna be more of a scheduling issue than anything else," he added.

In the first film with Jackman on the lead, Reynolds' character was described as a super mutant created by William Stryker in an effort to capture all superhumans and defeat Wolverine. In the upcoming Deadpool standalone movie, however, the mutant's origin story will be featured at length. Prior to becoming Deadpool, Reynolds' character was Wade Winston Wilson who was part of the Special Forces unit. The experimental surgery done to him eventually messed up his life which will lead to his quest to find the persons behind his struggle.

In an earlier report, it was revealed that Jackman will no longer be playing the widely popular character after the third Wolverine film. The actor held on to the role for nearly 15 years since the franchise hit the big screen in 2000. He played the character seven times, which included two stand-alone movies revolving solely on the adventures of Wolverine. He was also featured in X-Men: First Class when he appeared for a cameo, while the last time he was showcased as part of the franchise was in 2014 when he once again joined the team in X:Men: Days of Future Past.

Earlier interviews revealed Jackman's appreciation for his role as Logan, otherwise known as Wolverine. "I love the character, I love the series, I would never take it for granted or do it for the hell of it," he shared. However, the actor was realistic when it comes to his age and the requirements needed to properly play the character. "I love Old Man Logan," Jackman said, referring to a future version of his role. "I'd like to think I'm a few years off that, but perhaps I'm approaching that faster than I'd like to think," he admitted.
