The Mi 4i from Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi can now be purchased through Flipkart without a registration.

The handset, which was first unveiled earlier in April of this year, is available through the online retailer's open sale from May 25 to 26, NDTV reported.

The Mi 4i is the first handset by Xiaomi that was released outside of China. Launched exclusively for the Indian market, it serves as the more budget-friendly version of the Xiaomi Mi 4.

Shortly after it was unveiled last month with a retail price of Rs. 12,999 or around $205, the Mi 4i went on sale through Flipkart. However, not everyone was able to purchase the budget handset because users were required to have a Flipkart registration.

In addition, through an invite system, only selected users were able to get their hands on the device.

But now, users will be able to buy the handset without a registration or an invite from the company. Despite the open sale, Xiaomi has retained the Mi 4i's original retail price.

Unlike the Mi 4, which sports an aluminum composite frame, the Mi 4i has a unibody polycarbonate design. It has a 5-inch multi-touch display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. Its screen is protected by the Gorilla Glass 3.

The device's screen has the Sunlight Display feature which optimizes its visual quality even when the device is used under bright lighting conditions.

The Mi 4i runs on the MIUI 6 OS that's based on the Android 5.0 Lollipop. For its processor, Xiaomi equipped the handset with the 1.7GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 chipset from Qualcomm, according to Tech Radar. It has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of non-expandable internal storage.

For its camera, the handset packs a 13-megapixel rear shooter and a 5-megapixel snapper on the front side. The device's connectivity options are supported by 4G, 3G, 2G and Wi-Fi.
