Actor John Stamos tweeted news on Friday, May 22 that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will not reprise their roles as Michelle Tanner in the 2016 ‘Fuller House’ television series. The Olsen twins have not acted since 2011. Mary-Kate and Ashley have become fashion icons in the industry for their label, The Row. They also own Elizabeth and James. Instead of acting, their focus is more geared towards their fashion lines.
"#Heartbroken," tweeted Stamos on Friday night. "I understand they're in a different place and I wish them the best. I promise you will not be dissapointed with our reunion and spin off!!"
The Netflix series will premiere in 2016. Stephanie, Kimmy, and Ramona move in to help take care of D.J.’s two boys in San Francisco. The storyline mirrors the original ‘Full House’ series. D.J. is a pregnant widower who enlists the help of her best friend and sister to raise her kids.
"Although Ashley and Mary-Kate will not be a part of 'Fuller House,' I know how much 'Full House' has meant to them and they are still very much considered family," said executive producer Robert L. Boyett.
‘Full House’ aired on ABC from 1987 to 1995. It was about a widowed father who raised his three daughters with his brother and best friend. The series ran for eight seasons. Netflix announced on April 2015 that they would air the series in 2016.
