Anna Kendrick, who plays high school a cappella singer Beca in the ‘Pitch Perfect’ movie series was interviewed in the May 2015 issue of Glamour magazine. She talked about what life is like at 30 and openly discussed friendships and work ethic as an adult. ‘Pitch Perfect 2’ hit theaters on May 15. Kendrick is currently writing a book with Touchstone which debuts in 2016.
Kendrick relates to her character Beca in ‘Pitch Perfect 2.’ The actress said that Beca is “who we all are” because she struggles at things and is awkward, although she wants to be cool all the time. Kendrick said that is why the audience likes her character. Kendrick is 29-years-old. She was born in Portland, Maine and was entered Broadway at the age of thirteen. She has acted in hit films, ‘Twilight,’ ‘Up in the Air,’ and ‘Pitch Perfect.’
“I know. I like working hard, as long as it’s not motivated by fear. I don’t want to keep doing it just because I’m afraid to take a break,” said Kendrick in an interview with Glamour.
On turning 30, Kendrick said that she felt the big wave of difference at 29 because to her, being 29 “is 30.” Mindset-wise she sometimes feels “like an actual toddler” in a “semi-grown-up-body,” referring to her petite height. She looks forward to being able to say things like, “I’m 30. I don’t have time for that.”
“One of the surprises of being a grown-up is embracing the fact that you see your friends when you are both available,” said Kendrick. “ It’s not like you hang out all the time… it’s just the reality.”
Kendrick revealed in a recent press release that she will be writing a book. It will be a series of witty essays on her life. Kendrick’s book is set to release in Fall 2016. It will also feature an audio version. Rather than portraying herself as picture perfect, she said she will use the opportunity to show people her “ineptitude, pettiness, and the frequency with which” she embarrasses herself.
In ‘Pitch Perfect 2’ the Barden Bellas must reclaim their title from the European Champs after a horrible wardrobe malfunction by Fat Amy during a show at the Lincoln Center on the United States President’s birthday. The singing group can be reinstated only by winning the World Championships, an international competition which no American team has ever won.
“When I look back on this, I won’t remember performing and competing. I’m gonna remember you weirdos,” says Beca in the official movie trailer.
