New rumors suggest that the Edge variant of the upcoming Galaxy Note 5 might not come with an S Pen feature.

This piece of information might disappoint fans of Samsung's products since the stylus is one of the defining features of the Galaxy Note series.

According to Sam Mobile, news about the absence of the S Pen emerged shortly after Samsung renamed its upcoming devices. The Galaxy Note 5 Edge, which was previously codenamed as Project Zen, now goes by the name Project Zero 2. On the other hand, the Galaxy Note 5 is still being called Project Noble.

By taking away Project Zero 2's stylus support, various sources pointed out that the Galaxy Note 5 Edge could end up looking and functioning like a bigger version of the Galaxy S6 Edge. Although these are based on rumors, Samsung has not yet released a statement regarding the status of the stylus on Project Zero 2.

Fortunately though, both the Galaxy Note 5 and its Edge counterpart are expected to come with additional accessories during their release. These include the Clear View and S View cases as well as an item called the Keyboard Cover. Value Walk noted that this accessory might be a detachable keyboard case that commonly comes with tablet devices.

As for the specs, the upcoming Galaxy Note devices might come with either a 5.4 or 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with curved dual-edge features. However, South Korean news site WhoWired speculated that the Galaxy Note 5 might sport a 5.89-inch display while its Edge variant will have a 5.78-inch screen.

The devices might be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 processor or Samsung's own Exynos 7422 and could have 32GB of internal storage. They are rumored to sport a 16-megapixel rear camera paired with a 5-megapixel front shooter.

Previously, it was rumored that Samsung is targeting a July launch for the Galaxy Note 5 to beat the release of Apple's iPhone 6S. However, Samsung president J.K. Shin clarified that this rumor is not true because it will mess up the company's annual launch cycle.

Based on his statement, users can expect to see the launch of the new Galaxy Note devices sometime in September of this year.
