Microsoft has unveiled its latest firmware updates for the Surface Pro 2 and Surface Pro 3 tablets for this month.
The updates, which were detailed in Microsoft's website, primarily improve the graphic and audio quality of the devices, according to ZDNet.
The system firmware updates for both the Surface Pro 2 and Surface Pro 3 were released on May 19.
For the Surface Pro 2, the update will upgrade the Surface Pro UEFI to version 2.5.250.0. This comes with necessary changes for the firmware's compatibility with the new graphics driver.
It also features the version 10.18.14.4170 update for the HD Graphics Family Driver to improve its Miracast or wireless display support and graphic performance.
The version 6.16.00.3172 update for the Display Audio Driver, on the other hand, comes with enhanced support compatibility and audio experience.
For the Surface Pro 3, the tablet's UEFI will be upgraded to version 3.11.850.0 through the update. It also includes better compatibility with the graphics driver. The version 10.18.14.4170 update for the HD Graphics Family driver will improve its Miracast support while the version 6.16.00.3172 Display Audio driver update features compatibility support and better audio quality.
Currently, the firmware updates are not available to all Surface Pro devices. Particularly, Microsoft has not yet released the May update for the Intel-based Surface Pro and the ARM-based Surface 2 and Surface RT.
Microsoft explained that since the upgrades are delivered through Windows updates, they are rolled out gradually. In other words, not all users will receive the updates at once.
"When Surface updates are provided via the Windows Update service, they are delivered in stages to Surface customers," Microsoft posted on its website. "As a result, not every Surface will receive the update at the same time, but the update will be delivered to all devices."
"If you have not received the update, please manually check the Windows Update later," the company added.
