A benchmark test conducted by the site GeekBench featured a new handset from the Chinese tech company OnePlus.
Although the exact model of the tested smartphone is yet to be named, various sources suggest that it's the OnePlus Two, the successor of the company's One flagship device.
In the test, the mobile device was dubbed as model number A2001. The OnePlus One handset, on the other hand, had the model number A0001.
Based on the results of the test, the handset was running an Qualcomm processor with eight cores that clocks in at 1.55 GHz. 9to5Google speculated that this could be the Snapdragon 810 chipset.
This aspect is another strong indicator that the tested handset is the OnePlus Two because the company's CEO Peter Laus previously said that the One's successor might be powered by the Snapdragon 810.
Although this processor was rumored to be suffering from overheating problems, an executive from Qualcomm previously clarified that this is not true. In addition, it was previously revealed that the Snapdragon 810 chipset that was featured in other tests was used on an unreleased handset model.
The test also revealed that the smartphone was running on the Android 5.1 Lollipop. As for its predecessor, the out-of-the-box unit came with the Android 4.4.4 KitKat. This was then upgraded to the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop through recent updates.
The benchmark tests didn't reveal enough information regarding the mysterious device other than what was mentioned above and that it has 3GB of RAM.
If it is the OnePlus Two, Master Herald noted that users can expect to see its launch sometime during the third quarter of this year. It is expected to have a retail price of around $400.
However, according to 9to5Google, it might come with a higher price point than the One model since OnePlus is aiming to market it as a premium smartphone with a metal casing.
