There is word circulating now that the main villain in the brand new Spider-Man film will be played by none other than award-winning Interstellar actor, Matthew McConaughey.
The Hashtag Show has had a history of giving out false scoops, but they have also been responsible for some true and exciting reveals as well, so their recent report that McConaughey will be starring as the next Norman Osborn, also known as the Green Goblin might just pan out in the future.
As of now, there is still no word as to who will play the title character Peter Parker, but the one name that seems to be more prominent than most is Ender's Game lead actor Asa Butterfield.
Earlier, there were reports that the new Spider-Man will no longer be Peter Parker, but rather a Hispanic teen named Miles Morales, so they began exploring more actors who can take on the role. But the idea has been abandoned and it's now back to being Parker who will be behind the mask of the beloved web-slinger.
The first actor who portrayed him in the big screen is Tobey Maguire, with Kirsten Dunst playing his love interest Mary Jane Watson while his best friend Harry Osborn was played by James Franco. The trio were able to do three Spider-Man movies together.
In 'The Amazing Spider-Man,' he was played by Andrew Garfield, and instead of Watson, they introduced his first love interest Gwen Stacy, who was played by Emma Stone, and they managed to do two movies together.
Meanwhile, McConaughey is a very versatile actor who has starred in a series of films. His breakout role was in the coming-of-age comedy called Dazed and Confused in 1993. After that, he appeared in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation in 1994, the legal thriller A Time to Kill in 1996, and Steven Spielberg's historical drama called Amistad in 1997.
In the 2000s, McConaughey began delving into romantic comedies and taking on the lead guy roles such as the ones in the 2001 movie The Wedding Planner, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days in 2003, Failure to Launch in 2006, Fool's Gold in 2008, and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past in 2009.
That was his last romantic comedy and he began exploring The Lincoln Lawyer in 2011, Bernie in 2011, Killer Joe that same year, The Paperboy, Mud, and Magic Mike in 2012. He also appeared in The Wolf of Wall Street in 2013 then finally Interstellar in 2014.
