Given the success reached by the Fast and Furious 7 movie, which was the cast and crew's farewell tribute to the late actor Paul Walker, the making of the next installment, which is Furious 8 is already guaranteed.
Lead actor Vin Diesel who plays Dominic Toretto said that Furious 7 was "for Paul" while Furious 8 will be "from Paul." It will only be their answer of fate, he said, or rather it would be "F8" for them to create the movie.
Now, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has confirmed that he will be reprising his role as Agent Luke Hobbs in the sequel, saying "of course, it can't go on without Hobbs."
People bombarded Johnson with questions about the franchise while the actor was out promoting his new movie San Andreas, and one of the topics touched on was the possible spin-off for his character from the Fast and the Furious franchise.
Johnson was a little less certain with his answer to this, and only said: "We are all interested in it. I just had a big conversation with the studio, so we'll see."
The actor said that as the franchise went forward, his character had a lot more backbone for a spin-off to be possible, but it will still depend on what the audiences want to see.
"I still think for me personally we've created a little bit of space for him in 7 and the gauge is set for what the audience will want. That's my take on it, you know, but a lot of other people have to have input," he said.
Going back to the Fast and Furious franchise, a lot of people are curious whether or not Jordana Brewster's character Mia Toretto, who is the onscreen wife of Paul Walker's Brian O'Conner, will still be included in the next movie given that Brian and Dominic have already said their farewells to each other.
The actress said that she is keen to still be a part of it, but it all depends on where the franchise is headed.
"We had a long break after Paul's death, and none of us knew if we were coming back, period," Brewster said in an interview with HuffPost Live. "I don't know if I'd do another film, but it's always dependent on the fans. If they want one and if there's an appetite for it. We never want to jump the shark!"
