The Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update has arrived for the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 devices sold by T-Mobile.
The upgrade became available on Monday and is expected to arrive to all T-Mobile Galaxy Tab S tablets by June 5.
According to a post on the T-Mobile Support page, the device's baseband version will be updated to T807TUVU1BOE1 after installing Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. Before downloading the update though, users should make sure that they are connected to a secure Wi-Fi network, have more than 50 percent battery life and their devices should have 1.1GB of bandwidth and available space.
For those who want to manually check the availability of the update, they can do so by going to the Settings menu and tapping on the General tab. From there, they should head over to the About Device menu to see if the update is ready for download.
T-Mobile did not mention the included improvements and features of the latest Android update in its changelog. Phandroid noted that this could mean that the update's interface will stay the same.
Shortly after the update was made available for the T-Mobile Galaxy Tab S 10.5, a user said through the Android Central forum that the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop upgrade is causing problems for his device.
According to forum member Davo21, the update caused his device's battery to drain at a much faster rate. He also experienced connectivity issues after installing the update.
"Battery drain makes it almost unusable," the user posted. "I can literally watch the meter drop with just plain internet browsing. It will drain maybe 15 percent or more in an hour."
"I use Chrome as browser of choice," Davo21 continued. "Now I get frequent 'Aw Snap' freezes when I never had any before."
Like Davo21, another user complained about certain issues after installing the update. User aklef2005 reported that the device would not turn on after updating it to Android 5.0.2.
It is still unclear if the problem affects all T-Mobile Galaxy Tab S 10.5 devices but hopefully, the telecom company or Google will issue a permanent fix regarding the problems.
