Twitter user @upleaks has leaked images of Sony's upcoming smartphone, dubbed as the Lavender.

Based on the information regarding its specs, it is expected to be larger than the company's unreleased Xperia C4.

The leaker did not mention the exact size of the Lavender's display but noted that it will be bigger than the Xperia C4's 5.5-inch display. GSM Arena mentioned that its size might be close to the 6-inch display of the Xperia T2 Ultra handset.

Details regarding the screen are yet to be revealed but Phone Arena reported that it will have a 1080p resolution. In addition, like the current and upcoming smartphones from Xiaomi, LeTV and ZTE, the Lavender will have a bezel-less display design.

Aside from the display, the Sony Lavender will also sport better features than the upcoming Xperia smartphone. For one, Sony veered away from the latter's 5-megapixel front camera and equipped the Lavender with a 13-megapixel shooter.

With the front camera sporting LED flash, it seems Sony is aiming to market the Lavender as the perfect smartphone for taking selfies.

The back side of the device will also sport a 13-megapixel camera. The two shooters of the smartphone will be equipped with Sony's IMX214 sensors.

For the upcoming device's processing power, the Sony Lavender is expected to sport a MediaTek MT6752 chipset paired with the 1.7GHz octa-core Cortex-A53. It will have 2GB of RAM and will come with the dual-core Mali-T760 graphics card.

Various sources are suggesting that the out-of-the-box unit of the Sony Lavender will run on the current version of the Android Lollipop OS. Also, the smartphone model is expected to come with a dual SIM variant.

There are no official details yet regarding the possible retail price or launch date for Sony upcoming handset. But given the leaks, the tech giant might unveil other details of the device soon.
