Adopt815, a group that has been mobilizing Christians to pray for reunification in Korea, will be hosting a workshop event on June 13 at Azusa Pacific University focusing on the history of the division in Korea, and the work to be done in the future for reconciliation and reunification.
"We want to have as many people as possible aware of the situation in Korea, both in the North and the South," said one of the organizers of Adopt815. "We want to use this workshop event to highlight the needs in North Korea, and approach it with a gospel perspective, focused on John 3:16."
The event will feature two workshops: one featuring Jamie Kim from REAH International, who will be speaking on how to carry out gospel work in North Korea, and another on the importance of prayer in preparation for peaceful reunification.
Adopt815 has been especially mobilizing Christians to join in prayer on August 15, 2015, which marks the 70th year since Korea's independence from Japan, but also the 70th year since Korea's division.
"One goal we have is to have one million believers worldwide to come together and pray John 3:16 for North Korea on August 15, 2015 ... and to seek God's amazing breakthrough in North Korea Christian work," said Gina Kay, the director of Adopt815 in Los Angeles.
Though Adopt815 has been able to partner with numerous organizations and churches thus far--even internationally in Mongolia, and multi-ethnically with Latino churches--organizers seek to gain support from more Korean and Korean American leaders to plan for the August 15 event.
Previously, Adopt815 held prayer meetings leading up to August 15, 2015, including the first prayer meeting last August, and another in January.
Adopt815 has also prepared prayer guides in multiple languages, including English, Korean, Chinese, and Dutch, to encourage believers all over the world to pray together for North and South Korea.
The June 13 event will take place from 12 PM to 3 PM. For more information, visit www.adoptaday.com.
