Weeks following the release of the Avengers: Age of Ultron, fans and followers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are now eagerly anticipating the film next in line, Captain America 3: Civil War. While the Avengers somewhat revealed the potential plot for this upcoming flick, it remains to be seen whether the rumors are correct. Amidst all the speculations, however, it appears that one of the most prevalent issue is the identities of the characters who might get killed in the upcoming superhero war movie.
The speculation on the possible death of a major character was intensified when Movie Pilot disclosed that the crew was scheduled to film a "funeral scene."
"On Tuesday, May 12th, Captain America: Civil War will be filming what is simply being referred to as a 'funeral scene' in downtown Atlanta, Georgia," the report revealed. "The production is currently operating under the working title of Sputnik, and extras are being asked to wear formal, solid black attire for the event. The weather forecast for Tuesday is a cloudy day, with thunderstorms throughout the afternoon, making for a sullen, grim funeral," it added.
Birth Movies Death pointed out that Peggy Carter might eventually get killed off in the upcoming film. The report attributed her death to age, as clearly depicted in the recent Captain America: The Winter Soldier film. Moreover, it could be easily said that Carter has had a fulfilling life. The report also remarked that her death could mark a new beginning for Steve Rogers as she is the only one left that reminds him of his past life.
Meanwhile, Cinema Blend noted that Captain America himself actually dies in the comic book series. Should the filmmakers stick to the original storyline, then it is highly likely that the third Captain America film will be the last time fans see Steve Rogers in action. However, others contradict this theory since it has been widely reported that Captain America will still be in the next Avengers film, Infinity War.
As for HNGN, the report claims that the highly speculated funeral might be for an innocent bystander who got caught up in the cross fire. The report hypothesized that the victim might have been involved in a rescue mission that went haywire, which is reminiscent of a scene included in the original comic book story. In fact, this particular loss was what prompted Tony Stark, or Iron Man to lend his support to the controversial Super Hero Registration Act.
Captain America 3: Civil War will hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
