Ever since word came out that a female version of the mighty god of thunder, Thor, will be unveiled, fans and followers of the franchise have been actively speculating on the identity of the new hammer wielding superhero. However, Wednesday will see the end of all these speculations as the eighth issue for the Thor comic book series will be released.

Jason Aaron, the writer of the widely speculated series, revealed some details of the highly anticipated installment, according to Vulture. However, readers who intend to find out the identity of the female Thor by perusing the released copy of issue No. 8 of the series should be forewarned that major spoilers are included in the next paragraphs. Hence, it would be advisable to not continue reading this story.

Jane Foster is the female Thor.

While it seems rather ridiculous to assign her superhero duties, especially in light of her battle with breas cancer, Aaron explained that no other character came close to landing this role.

"It grew out of the idea of the previous Thor becoming unworthy, which was something I was always building toward. I liked the idea of dealing with his worthiness and the idea of what it means for a god to be worthy in the Marvel universe," explained Aaron in the interview. "You know, the god of thunder waking up every morning and looking at the hammer and not knowing if he's gonna be worthy to lift it. Then, of course, one day he should wake up and not be able to lift it. That opened the door for someone else to pick up the hammer and carry it around in his place," he shared.

He then added, "Really, the only character that was discussed was Jane." Aaron went on to say, "Jane was the one I had a story with, whose story I wanted to tell."

It was October last year when Marvel announced their decision to feature a female Thor. New York Times revealed that the company's decision to include such character stemmed from the fact that "most of the new readers seem to be women and young girls" which Aaron described as "great" in terms of the growth in their audience. "You're seeing more and more comics that appeal to the audience," he added.

In addition, Aaron disclosed that his involvement with the project helped him gain recognition for his work as well. He shared that when he told people before about his job as a comic book writer, he only received "blank stares." With the introduction of this new character, however, he has now elevated his status as the "Lady Thor Guy."
