Amanda Seyfried has been set to join the cast of ‘Young Americans’, a buddy movie that follows the story of Karl Rove and Lee Atwater during their college years.
The film stars Daniel Radcliffe as Lee Atwater and Dane Dehaan as Karl Rove, highlighting the future political consultants’ wild road trip across the South to get to Washington, D.C.
Seyfried joins the cast as a young political character who is known for her beauty and wits, and secretly sends threats to Rove and Atwater to beat them at their own game.
The announcement of Seyfried’s casting also comes with the news that ‘Young Americans’ will be financed and produced by StarStream Media; it will also be written by Wes Jones and helmed by John Krokidas, who previously worked on ‘Kill Your Darlings.’
Other producers include Destro Films’ Liz Destro (‘Life After Beth’) and Bruce Cohen (‘Silver Linings Playbook’). They will also be joined by Kim Leadford of StarStream Media and Frank Frattaroli from Circle of Confusion.
The film’s international sales rights at the Marche du Film at Cannes will be handed by XYZ Films.
Principal photography for ‘Young Americans’ will reportedly begin this fall.
“Everybody at StarStream Media and Destro Films are excited to finally be making this movie. We have been trying to get this script since it won the Black List in 2010,” Leadford said in an official statement.
Seyfried recently appeared alongside Naomi Watts, Ben Stiller and Adam Driver in the comedy drama film ‘While We’re Young’ directed by Noah Baumbach, and will make an appearance in ‘Ted 2’ that will be released this summer.
Meanwhile, Radcliffe has been set to appear next on BBC’s upcoming drama titled ‘Game Changer’, which revolves around the video game ‘Grand Theft Auto’ and the issues that surround the game as related to popular culture.
Also starring Bill Paxton, ‘Game Changer’ has been written by James Wood (‘Rev’) and helmed by Owen Harris, who previously worked on Black Mirror.
In this adaptation, Radcliffe will portray Rockstar Games co-founder Sam Houser whereas Paxton has been set to play Jack Thompson, an activist lawyer strongly involved in campaigning against violence in video games.
Radcliffe will star next in ‘Victor Frankenstein’, the latest adaptation of the classic monster tale which has been scheduled for a debut by Fox on October 2. This year, the former ‘Harry Potter’ star also finished filming the ‘Now You See Me’ sequel for Lionsgate, which will hit cinemas in 2016.
