Various reports have revealed that some Nexus 6 users are experiencing data connection failure.
Many of the users who complained about the issue said their devices are from T-Mobile and Sprint networks, NDTV reported.
It was initially believed that the problem has something to do with the Android 5.0 Lollipop updates, since these are the causes behind the issues faced by Nexus 5, 7 and 9 owners. However, a closer look into the matter revealed that it has nothing to do with the Android OS.
According to some Nexus 6 users, the signal bars of their devices suddenly drop for no apparent reason. Those who have tried restarting their handsets said it temporarily solved the problem. However, after a few minutes, they begin to lose connection again.
"This last week at work I started noticing that my data and voice would drop off and I would get the icon showing half signal but would have an '!' in the icon, when I look at the SIM status it shows I'm connected but I'm not," user midwestkel posted in the XDA-Developers forum.
"After rebooting the phone I will have 4G service for about 20 minutes then it drops off again," the user added.
Other users said they have been experiencing the same problem over the past week and it seems to happen sporadically. In addition, based on the reports of users, the problem occurs whether they're at home or in the office. So, it's still unclear if the issue is related to poor signal reception from cell towers.
Google has not yet issued an official statement regarding the problem with the Nexus 6 devices. Hopefully, the tech giant will resolve the matter through a permanent fix.
But for now, Android Authority is advising users to either reset their devices or re-insert their SIM cards. They can also try contacting Sprint or T-Mobile to ask the companies' customer service representatives for additional help.
