When it comes to action movies, having Liam Neeson star in one can only mean one thing: guaranteed success. And after taking on the role of retired agent Bryan Mills in the surprise box office hit Taken back in 2008, people have been eager to see more of Neeson in action.

Audiences got their wish in the two Taken sequels as well as The Grey, Battleship, A Walk Among Tombstones, and just recently, Run All Night.

This time, audiences will be seeing Neeson save the United States in the new movie called A Willing Patriot, which will be directed by Martin Zandvliet, according to Screen Rant.

Marc Brutan of MadRiver Pictures announced that Neeson is already in final negotiations to star in the film, where he will portray a CIA agent who will be going head to head with a terrorist who has plans on attacking the United States.

His character has a "mysterious past" which he will be eager to avenge, and he will stop at nothing to catch the terrorist and keep the attack from unfolding.

Brutan is really excited to have Neeson on board and has this to say about their lead star and director: "Liam Neeson is one of the defining actors of our generation and audiences will love him in this role. After seeing Martin's new film Land of Mind, we know he was an incredible storyteller and the perfect match to collaborate with Liam."

The story of A Willing Patriot is nothing new, and it looks like Neeson has really been boxed in to a specific genre. But audiences are not complaining: Neeson has the brooding and multi-talented tough guy role (with a hidden soft side!) down pat.

At the same time, everybody is holding out hope that he will deliver the next big line - one that just might beat his ever-popular "I don't know who you are, but I will find you and I will kill you" line from Taken, which he delivered to his daughter Kim's mysterious abductors.

Still, despite being typecast into the brooding government operative role, Neeson is not lacking for any acting skills, and he will be proving this in Martin Scorsese's new drama called Silence. Of course, one should also remember that he lent his voice in the animated film The Lego Movie.

A Willing Patriot has not secured a release date yet, but it will probably hit cinemas sometime in 2016.
