Some Nexus 9 users are complaining that they are going through the same problems faced by Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 owners because of the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
Fortunately, Android 5.1.1 is now being rolled out for Google's flagship tablet.
Just days after update 5.0.2 arrived for the Nexus 9, several users complained that the upgrade is causing their devices to lock up. Like what Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 owners went through, some Nexus 9 users said their devices got stuck on the boot screen after installing the update, 9to5Google reported.
For users of the previous Nexus models, the problem can be temporarily fixed by rebooting their devices or resetting their factory settings. However, these do not work for the Nexus 9 according to some users.
"The factory reset didn't help anything," a user posted on Google's product forum. "Still stuck with the green figure with error underneath it. I can reboot back to where it was before, but of course can't go forward. Not really sure what to do now, and I'm not sure if you can bypass 5.0.2 and to to 5.1.1."
Other users reported the same problem and some said they are considering returning their Nexus 9 tablets to Google.
Fortunately for Nexus 9 users, Google announced on May 7 that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is now available for the Nexus 9. Surprisingly though, the flagship tablet was the last Nexus device that received the latest version of the Android update.
But according to Ars Technica, this is probably because the Nexus 9 is the only device that is powered by the Nvidia Tegra K1 SoC, while other Nexus models are running on Qualcomm's chipsets.
The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will hopefully solve the current problems faced by Nexus 9 users running on update 5.0.2. However, they probably must first get past their devices' booting problems before getting the latest Lollipop version.
