Director Bryan Singer’s latest revelation included an update to the upcoming ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ film, confirming that two of its mutants will be related to each other.
Although the director did not specifically include the term ‘brothers’ in his tweet, the caption is suggesting that Cyclops and Havok come from one family tree. Indeed, Scott and Alex are siblings as based on the comic books.
Considering the fact that the duo has similar energy-based powers, fans will get to see Cyclops and Havok as brothers if Singer incorporated this element in the upcoming ‘X-men: Apocalypse.’
Portrayed by Lucas Till, Havok made an appearance in ‘X-Men: First Class’, which was given a ‘60s setting.
For ‘Apocalypse’, the story will take place in the ‘80s and will include a younger Cyclops to be played by Tye Sheridan.
Previously, it was rumored that continuing the story from ‘First Class’ will eventually lead to Alex being Scott’s father. However, with Singer’s latest revelation, it is highly likely that the past, present and future may be rearranged once more.
According to writer and producer Simon Kinberg, ‘Apocalypse’ will put forward significant changes for the mutant-superhero universe. As it carries on from ‘Days of Future Past’, the upcoming installment can be expected to cross over to related movies which are currently being developed, including ‘Gambit’ and ‘Deadpool.’
James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Nicholas Hoult (Beast) and Rose Byrne (Moira McTaggert) will all make a comeback in ‘Apocalypse’ to play the younger versions of these characters.
Sir Ian McKellen, who played Magneto in the past ‘X-Men’ movies, will not reprise his role in the new ‘X-Men’ film. Similarly, fans should not expect Patrick Stewart to make a comeback as he will not be playing Professor X anymore.
Even Jennifer Lawrence announced that she will be exiting the film franchise and will portray Mystique for one last time on ‘Apocalypse.’
Meanwhile, new faces will make special appearances in the upcoming movie. It was confirmed earlier last month that Olivia Munn has signed on to the film and will play telepathic mutant Psylocke.
Lana Condon will join her to portray Jubilee, a fan-favorite who is well known for generating special energy plasmoids. Singer also confirmed that ‘EastEnders’ actor Ben Hardy (‘EastEnders’) will take on the role of the winged Angel.
New versions of Jean Grey and Nightcrawler are also expected to appear in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse.’ The movie is set for an official release in May next year.
