After being announced to play Aquaman in the upcoming ‘Justice League’ film adaptation by Zack Snyder, Jason Momoa is also in talks to take on a new cinematic project and will join ‘The Magnificent Seven’ as one of its villains.

The former ‘Game of Thrones’ actor is set to join the cast of the Western film and will star opposite Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Haley Bennett, Wagner Moura and Vincent D’Onofrio.

Byung-hun Lee, who starred in ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ and ‘I Saw The Devil’, is the most recently confirmed actor to join ‘The Magnificent Seven’ in which he will play Billy Rocks. Lee will also appear in ‘Terminator: Genisys’, the latest installment in the sci-fi action franchise, which will hit cinemas on July 1.

Helmed by ‘Training Day’ director Antoine Fuqua, ‘The Magnificent Seven’ will serve as a remake of the 1960s movie by John Sturges, which was also based on the classic ‘Seven Samurai’ by Akira Kurosawa.

Sturges’ take on the story included Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn and Robert Vaughn to portray a group of gunmen with different personalities who unite and protect a Mexican village from Eli Wallach and his group of outlaws.

The story resulted to several sequels and even a television series on CBS.

After being rewritten by John Lee Hancock whose works include the award-winning ‘The Blind Side’, the upcoming film version’s screenplay was initially drafted by writer Nic Pizzolatto, who previously worked on ‘True Detective.’

However, the new ‘Magnificent Seven’ is expected to show a mistreated mining town taken over by a gold baron, instead of a Mexican village.

Meanwhile, Momoa previously opened up about the ‘Justice League Part One’ script, which he said was still in its early stages. This may be attributed to the fact that Warner Bros. placing more emphasis first on ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and ‘Suicide Squad.’

"Justice League is quite a ways off. We don't have scripts and stuff like that," Momoa said. "I'll bring my professionalism there. I'll bring my sense of humor. Hopefully people will like that. If they don't I'll modify it."

Fans who are anticipating the first teaser trailer of ‘Justice League’ would not have to wait for long as it is expected to be unveiled this May 15. The trailer is expected to be released alongside Warner Bros. ‘Mad Max: Fury Road.’
