It seems like Indiana Jones' iconic song is softly playing in the minds of die-hard fans right now since Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has just confirmed that a new Indiana Jones movie is in the works.

She talked about the 2012 deal made between Disney and Lucasfilm with Vanity Fair, which meant that the well-loved professor with his trademark fedora will definitely be back to entertain his legions of fans in the big screen.

"In buying the company, Disney also got rights, for better or worse, to less-storied Lucasfilm properties, among them Willow and Radioland Murders. A bigger prize is the Indiana Jones franchise," Kennedy said during the interview. She added that another Indiana Jones movie "will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I'm not quite sure. We haven't started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it."

Her statements were much more optimistic compared to those given by Disney chairman Alan Horn to Variety in an earlier interview. All he said about the possibility of a new Indiana Jones movie was: "We don't have a story. We need a story."

Now that Kennedy made the good news, the next question on everybody's mind is: Who will direct the film and who will star in it?

Legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg has directed all of the past four Indiana Jones films - Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, The Last Crusade, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - that starred Harrison Ford. Ford has revealed earlier on that he would love to reprise his role as Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones, but given that he's already 72 years old, it might be difficult for the actor to do complication action stunts, which seem to be a requirement in action films nowadays.

The focus has then turned on a younger actor. Spielberg reportedly set his eyes on Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World lead star Chris Pratt, whose star is undeniably on the rise given the juicy roles he has been nabbing to date.

The actor did say that playing Indiana Jones would be an "awesome opportunity," meaning he would not hesitate to play the fictional archaeologist. And his fans seem to think that Pratt would do justice to the character too. However, all that has been said about his involvement in the film have not been confirmed, and they remain as mere rumors up to this point.
