Chinese telecom firm Huawei has unveiled its latest smartphone, dubbed as the G Play Mini, in Italy.

The handset is considered as a mid-range smartphone and has a retail price of €229 or around $254 without a carrier contract, GSM Arena reported.

Huawei's latest device was launched exclusively in Italy and there are no details yet from the company regarding the handset's debut in other countries.

In terms of its features, the G Play Mini is similar to Huawei's recently released Honor 4C. It has dual SIM support and is powered by 1.2GHz HiSilicon Kirin 620 octa-core processor. It has 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through a microSD card.

The smartphone sports a 5-inch HD IPS display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. It is also equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash paired with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Out of the box, the device runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat and EM UI 3.0 but can be upgraded to the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.

Although the Honor 4C and G Play Mini have the same specifications, Android Community speculated that the latter handset may be marketed for those who are into mobile gaming because of its name.

Aside from the latest smartphone, Huawei unveiled another mobile device, the Ascend P8lite. Earlier this week, the handset was seen in the product listing of an online retailer based in Germany, according to NDTV.

Like the G Play Mini, the Ascend P8lite is powered by the Kirin 620 processor and has 2GB of RAM. The device also has a 5-inch HD IPS display and is equipped with the same camera specifications.

For its built-in storage, however, the handset has 16GB of space which can be expanded to 128GB. Another major difference between the two is their OS. The Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed in the Ascend P8lite.

It is also unclear if the device will be released in other countries. Based on the online retailer's listing, the Ascend P8lite is priced at €249, or around $280.
