Xiaomi, the manufacturer of the "iPhone clone" in China, has released its new flagship smartphone, the Mi 4i in New Delhi.
"I came on board thinking that Xiaomi needed a flagship phone for emerging markets. I've spent plenty of time in these markets and thinking a lot about this stuff in my previous job. I do think that price really matters and everyone should have a flagship," Xiaomi Global Vice President Hugo Barra told the press at the Mi 4i launch.
Like its previous releases, Xiaomi made sure that the Mi 4i will be an instant hit with its specs and looks. It is the first time that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has ventured and launched a device outside of China, and US fans will be disappointed to know that the new phone is not available in the country.
To those who are not yet aware, Xiaomi phones bear a great resemblance to Apple's famous iPhone. The main difference among the two smartphones is its price. Xiaomi's Mi line of smartphones is a lot more affordable than the iPhone (it is priced at Rs. 12,999 or about $205), and also comes with impressive specs.

The Display
There is no reason for the Mi 4i to fail in the Indian market. Mi 4i boasts of a "perfect display" at 1080p full HD on a 5-inch screen. It also features a "Sunlight Display," which utilizes "hardware-level algorithms to adjust contrast for each pixel in real time," allowing better reading of the display even when under the sun.
Xiaomi also equipped its new flagship phone with NTSC 95% color gamut, which is way ahead of the iPhone 6's NTSC 72%. The display itself is 7% bigger than the iPhone 6.
For the LCD display, the Mi 4i uses advanced OGS full lamination technology. This integrates touch sensor and layers of protective glass, making it not only functional, but tough as well.
The technology also provides users with a better display with fuller colors, since it removes light refractions that are caused by air gaps between the protective glass layers and touch sensor.
Mi 4i's Camera
Xiaomi's latest phone is equipped with the best cameras, and with this we mean the best there is. It is equipped with a 13MP rear camera, which is built by Samsung and Sony. Mi 4i also has a front facing camera that comes in at 5MP.
Under the Hood
All those looks mean nothing without killer specs. The Mi 4i is powered by Android Lollipop and uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 for its processor, which makes multi-tasking quite a breeze.
