The launch of the highly-anticipated racing game "Gran Turismo 7" has been delayed and may be released sometime in 2017.

Development studio Polyphony Digital noted that it is still working on the game and won't be able to launch it to meet a possible 2015 or 2016 release date, Kpopstarz reported.

The latest installment of the "Gran Turismo" franchise was released in December of 2013 exclusively for the PlayStation 3 console. Since Polyphony Digital is targeting to launch the game for the PlayStation 4, the studio's developers are working hard to deliver "Gran Turismo 7" with stunning graphics and quality game play experience.

"Everything will be running naturally, Kazunori Yamauchi, the CEO of Polyphony Digital and creator of the "Gran Turismo" series said according to Breathecast.

"PS3 was much, much more difficult," he continued. "The high quality of data that we have being rendered on the PS4, I think, is going to make an incredible difference."

Kazunori then added that for the seventh installment of the franchise, he and the studio want to do everything that they were not able to achieve with PlayStation 3's "Gran Turismo 6."

As to what gamers can expect for the upcoming "Gran Turismo 7," Yamauchi previously said that the studio will be adding premium cars to the game's roster. However, this does not mean that the game will drop standard vehicles featured in previous titles.

In addition, Polyphony Digital also utilized the GPS Track Maker to accurately create 3D models of international racing circuits that will be used in the game.

Jacques Berger, the head of safety for the Federation Internationale de I'Automobile, was able to see the results of the GPS Track Maker for "Gran Turismo 7" and was impressed with its quality.

"It was not until we completed the tests between our track data and the game's track data that we fully appreciated the level of work and attention to detail that goes into the development," he said according to the PlayStation Blog.

"It was not just the tracks that have been precisely mapped out, but also the surrounding landscapes such as the run-off areas, grandstands and buildings," he added.
