Director Bryan Singer took to Twitter to announce that actor Lucas Till, who appeared in ‘X-Men: First Class’ and ‘Days of Future Past’, will reprise his role as Havoc for the new ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ film.
Singer is directing the upcoming installment as drawn out from a script penned by Simon Kinberg, Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty.
Interestingly, Till will return to his role alongside Tye Sheridan who portrays the young Cyclops in the movie; this will be the first time that the two mutant brothers will make an appearance in the same film.
‘Apocalypse’ will bring on major changes to the superhero universe, as revealed by writer and producer Kinberg. Continuing on from the past film ‘Days of Future Past’, ‘Apocalypse’ will cross over to other films that are currently in the works, such as ‘Gambit’ and ‘Deadpool.’
At the ‘Star Wars’ Celebration last weekend, Kinberg compared the upcoming installment with the last ‘X-Men’ film.
“The aftermath of 'Apocalypse’ is something that will really alter the course of history in that world in much the same way 'Days of Future Past’ did,” he said.
Earlier this month, Olivia Munn was reported to have joined the ‘Apocalypse’ cast as the telepathic mutant Psylocke. She also joins newcomer Lana Condon who has been set to portray Jubilee, the 90s' favorite mutant who has the superhuman power to create pyrotechnic energy plasmoids. Singer also recently confirmed that British actor Ben Hardy (‘EastEnders’) will portray the winged Angel.
Oscar Isaac, who also appears in the upcoming ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, and Kodi Smit-McPhee, who starred in the ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’, have both signed on to the film.
James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult and Rose Byrne will all be coming back to ‘Apocalypse’ to reprise their roles as the younger versions of Professor X, Magneto, Beast and Moira McTaggert, respectively.
Sir Ian McKellen, who portrayed Magneto in the previous ‘X-Men’ movies, will not be returning to the new installment. The same goes for Patrick Stewart, who boosted his already-successful career by portraying Professor X in the film franchise.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence confirmed that she will be saying goodbye to her ‘X-Men’ family as ‘Apocalypse’ will be her last movie in which she will play Mystique. The Academy Award winner recently teamed up with Steven Spielberg to work on a movie adaptation of war photographer Lynsey Addario’s memoir.
‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ has already been set to hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
