It has been several years since Sarah Jessica Parker graced the small screen as Carrie Bradshaw, the fashionable New York writer with an obsession for beautiful shoes. This time, the actress will be working once again with HBO on a new series called Divorce.
Divorce will be a comedy set in New York, and Parker will play Frances, a woman who is struggling with her divorce that does not seem like it's ever going to end, reported Cinema Blend. Her character will realize through the series that it's not as easy to escape from a marriage that is falling apart than it is to save it.
Her soon-to-be ex-husband Robert will be played by Thomas Haden Church, who gained popularity for his roles in Wings and Sideways. Of course, Parker's strong female characters will never be complete without her bevy of supportive friends, and for the Divorce show, they will be Dallas played by Mad Men's Talia Balsam and the high-strung Diane played by Saturday Night Live's Molly Shannon.
For the pilot episode, they will even be getting Flight of the Conchord's Jemaine Clement.
Divorce was created by Irish actress slash writer Sharon Horgan, who is also responsible for quite a number of comedy series including Pulling, Dead Boss, and Angelo's, just to name a few. She is also the brains behind the comedy Catastrophe, where she starred in alongside well-known comedy actor Rob Delaney. There is a huge chance that Horgan will be appearing in Divorce as well.
There are no reports yet as to how many episodes Divorce will get, but they have already put in an order for a pilot a few months ago. Other HBO TV series usually get eight to 10 episodes, such as Game of Thrones, Veep, and Silicon Valley, so Divorce might be getting the same numbers.
Parker's highly popular Sex and the City wrapped up back in 2004, but fans could not get enough of the girls - Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte (played by Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, respectively) that they decided to create two movie continuations, which unfortunately lacked the same magic the girls brought to the small screen. However in it, Bradshaw finally married the love of her life Mr. Big, played by Chris Noth.
As for her girls, Charlotte and Miranda are enjoying married life and motherhood, while Samantha decides that she is unable to commit to a monogamous relationship with her long-time model boyfriend.
