While Scarlett Johansson's character, the Black Widow, has yet to get her very own standalone film, her presence in both The Avengers and Captain America franchise indubitably added value to the blockbuster movies. In an interview with Collider, the widely popular actress dropped hints on what to expect in the highly anticipated Captain America film, dubbed as Civil War.
Disclosing that she already read the script for the much awaited installment of the superhero franchise, Johansson shared that the film had a "very different feeling" compared with the other movies made by Marvel, or any project she had been part of in the past.
"These films are-I don't think darker is the right word because there's definitely always going to be some kind of levity, and that comes in a form of humor or hope," the Avengers actress explained. "When you compare these films to like Batman, it's a different feeling obviously, it's a different audience experience, she added.
However, Johansson elucidated that "as the stakes loom like larger and larger," she observed that the Captain America films "are kind of maturing with the audience" as well. "So there's even more complex psychological twists that I sort of hadn't necessarily anticipated," the multi-awarded star revealed.
While she could not divulge whether Black Widow will be siding with Chris Evans' Steve Rogers in the upcoming flick, Johansson was generous with the information regarding her insights on her relationship with directors Joe and Anthony Russo, whom she also worked with in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
"I'm excited to work with the Russos again," she said. "They have a very different approach to this universe than Joss (Whedon), just different," the actress compared.
She also shared that "it will be interesting to see how they (the Russos) treat all of these new characters." Johansson then went on to share that when she worked with the directors in Captain America 2, "the film felt very much like we were doing a kind of '70s style car-chase political-thriller" flavor to it.
"But they were also dealing with far less characters, the stakes were just different," she observed. "Now with Civil War it's gonna be interesting to see how they set up this next phase, I think Cap 3 is definitely sort of like a pre-Avengers 3 and 4," the star added.
