Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds is definitely batting for the best father and husband award right after he said that his newborn daughter with Blake Lively is "the best thing that has ever happened" to him.
Speaking to E! News, Reynolds admitted that he is not getting much sleep at home because he and Lively are both taking care of their baby, James, adding that he is "totally" in zombie mode all the time because of all the hours they've put in for her care.
"There have been times where I woke up, literally had no idea I had been walking for five minutes," he said. "But you love it. You wake up in the middle of the night, you got a big stupid smile on your face. I was telling someone else that. Anything else that woke you up every 45 minutes, you'd kill it. But when it's a baby, it's the best thing that ever happened to you."
Reynolds actually feels that it is the baby that is training him and Lively so they have to figure out how to turn the tables on their daughter and train her instead.
Even though Reynold's head is currently filled with baby thoughts, he said that there's a lot of room left for Lively. In fact, the proud dad said that his relationship with Lively only grew stronger after the arrival of James.
"When that happens you fall so much more in love with your partner. It's a pretty crazy experience," he gushed. "What blows my mind is that it's so common yet it's so profound at the same time. Something so many people do."
Reynolds is also busy promoting his new movie Woman in Gold. In the movie, his character Randy unfortunately missed his child's birth because he was wrapped up in work, and the actor said that he could not understand how anybody can resist missing the spectacular moment of childbirth.
"I know Randy was committed to this cause, missing his child's birth. You would need wild horses and several bulldozers to pull me away from that. I could not miss that," Reynolds said.
Aside from Woman in Gold, Reynolds also has another movie in the works - Deadpool. It is actually his second foray into the comic book world, since he was first chosen to play Hal Jordan in the movie Green Lantern, which was unfortunately a flop.
Despite the movie's dismal ratings, it was there that he met Lively and the two fell in love, so all in all, the movie was not such a complete disaster for Reynolds.
