Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus has announced that it will roll out the CM12S update for One device within the coming days.

The update, from the company's former OS developer Cyanogen, is based on the Android 5.0 Lollipop, according to NDTV.

The arrival of the CM12S was confirmed by Carl Pei, the co-founder of OnePlus, through Twitter after responding to a consumer's query regarding the update.

"CM12S just passed certification today," the executive tweeted on April 10. "Thanks for the patience, expect rollout in the next few days.

The update was supposed to arrive for the OnePlus One devices at the end of March but was delayed due to certain issues with its certification.

Around that time, the company explained that it was working with Cyanogen with the necessary development and testing procedures for the OS update in order to release it as soon as possible, iDigitaltimes reported.

Since Cyanogen has ended its partnership with OnePlus last year, the CM12S could be the last OS update from the developer. According to Engadget, the split was caused by Cyanogen's decision to work exclusively with Micromax.

After losing its developer, OnePlus pushed through and decided to create its own OS. Earlier this month, it was reported that the company is working on the OxygenOS for the OnePlus One.

Like the CM12S, the OxygenOS is also based on the Android Lollipop. The arrival of the company's first OS for the One device offers various features such as support for additional gesture controls, a new file manager and customization options for lock screen features as well as for the navigation keys.

The company noted that by creating its own OS, it will be able to focus more on the feedback and concerns of its customers.

"By creating our own operating system, we can quickly respond to user feedback and make it easier for you to continue playing a fundamental role in the future of OnePlus," the company wrote in a blog post.

"Our goal for OxygenOS is to provide faster, more meaningful updates and a better-integrated range of services for every OnePlus user," OnePlus added.
