The release of Fast and Furious 7 revived the public's interest on the life of the late Paul Walker. Unbeknownst to some fans of the actor, he played one of the lead roles in the 1999 blockbuster film She's All That. If the speculations circling the rumor mills are to be believed, then it appears that the romantic comedy will once again hit the big screens as news of having it remade is going viral online, according to The Wrap.
The flick, which stars Walker along with Freddie Prinze, Jr., Rachael Leigh Cook, and Matthew Lillard, was quite a hit in the 90s as it earned a number of nominations from various award giving bodies such as Kid's Choice Awards, MTV Movie Awards, ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards, and Blockbuster Entertainment Awards. It has been hailed as one of the most notable films during that period as it featured a perfect combination of wit, humor, and of course, romance.
She's All That presented a relatively simple, albeit not entirely relatable, premise. Prinze, Jr., who played the charming high school heartthrob and all-around jock Zack Siler, was left heartbroken by his equally popular girlfriend just weeks before one of the major social events took place - the prom. Spurned and humiliated by the rejection, Zack attempts to figure out a way to show him still coming out on top despite the situation.
The solution to his dilemma appeared in the form of a challenge where he declared that he could turn any girl in the entire campus into the year's prom queen. Since his ex-girlfriend was practically slated to win the highly coveted award, this posed a very tangible threat to her status as well as provoked her to rethink her decision of cutting her romantic ties with Zack.
Although it seemed that the plan was going on smoothly, Walker's character, named Dean Sampson, decided to up the ante and posed doubts on Zack's ability to actually achieve his goal. As if to prove a point, the high school boys made a deal that Dean could choose anyone for the project. Should Zack fail to transform the chosen girl, then he would lose their bet.
Dean then went on to choose the odd quiet girl who basically looked hopeless in terms of gaining popularity just in time for prom, Laney Boggs, played by Cook. As Zack embarks on the journey towards transforming Laney, he eventually finds himself falling in love with her. Faced with the unexplainable emotions attached with a new and socially unacceptable love, he then had to find a way to determine what truly matters most.
To date, no official comment has been made by either the production company or any of the personalities allegedly involved in the project.
