Telecom provider AT&T is now rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy S5.
The release came a day after the update was made available for the owners of the Samsung Galaxy S4, according to GSM Arena.
After the Android 5.0 Lollipop arrived for the Galaxy S4 on Wednesday, AT&T immediately received complaints regarding the arrival of the update for the Galaxy S5's predecessor. After all, the Galaxy S5 is the newer unit and should therefore get the update first before the older models.
The Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Galaxy S5 can be downloaded through Wi-Fi but has a hefty size of 1.4 GB. AT&T will notify its customers once the update is already available for them based on the region they are living in.
But for those who do not want to wait for the company's announcement, they can manually check for themselves if the update has already arrived. They can do so by going to the Settings menu of their mobile devices and clicking on the About Device option.
From there, they'll be able to see if the updated software is already available.
The arrival of the Lollipop update will bring various improvements to the Galaxy S5. For one, the settings options that users usually utilize can now be accessed with two swipes downwards from the top part of the screen, Android Police reported.
In addition, the Lollipop comes with a Priority mode that will enable users to organize their notifications based on their importance. The update also has Smart Lock to ensure the security of the device as well as new battery saving features.
Aside from these, the Android 5.0 Lollipop will improve the device's user interface system and will allow files such as apps, photos, videos and songs to be shared across various Android-powered devices.
