Days after the video showing the Galaxy S6 Edge's malleability surfaced, Samsung released a statement to clarify that its latest smartphone model will not suffer a possible BendGate controversy.

According to the company, the conditions of the test on the Galaxy S6 Edge have been exaggerated, IGN reported.

Earlier this week, consumer electronics warranty provider SquareTrade conducted a BendBot quality test on Samsung's smartphone to analyze its durability. The test revealed that both the Apple iPhone 6 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge can bend under the same amount of pressure, which is around 110 pounds, The Verge has learned.

The results suggest that future Galaxy S6 Edge owners might go through the same Bendgate problem as certain Apple users.

However, Samsung pointed out that the amount of pressure applied on its smartphone by SquareTrade's BendBot machine is a bit unrealistic.

Based on the company's own tests, the amount of pressure that an average person can apply to a mobile device by sitting on it is around 66 pounds. Samsung noted that even when subjected to this amount of pressure, the Galaxy S6 Edge will still not bend.

"Our internal test results indicate that the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are not bendable even under 79 [pounds], which is equivalent to putting pressure to snap a bundle of five pencils at once," the company said in a statement according to IGN.

Samsung then added that in SquareTrade's video, only the front panel of the Galaxy S6 Edge was tested. The company explained the front and back sides of mobile devices have different durableness.

After learning about Samsung's statement, Jessica Hoffman, the vice president SquareTrade's Global communications, said the company is ready to carry out a re-test on the Galaxy S6 Edge with its BendBot machine.

"We're happy that Samsung has released its own tests and disclosed the benchmarks for its internal stress test," she told Forbes. "We welcome Samsung's invitation to test its device again with our BendBot and release the results publicly."
