The original lead characters of Tron: Legacy are reportedly going to reprise their roles for the next chapter in the Tron saga, which is Tron: Ascencion.

Pan's Garrett Hedlund and The Lazarus Effect's Olivia Wilde have confirmed to reprise their roles as Sam Flynn and Quorra respectively for the upcoming sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Tron 3 is reportedly scheduled for a Fall 2015 production date in Vancouver with no release date set yet. Years ago, Wilde said in an interview that "everybody would be game" for another shot at the series, and the studio seems eager to retain the core cast, even if Bruce Boxleitner, who played Alan Bradley slash Tron in the past films has not yet confirmed to return for the sequel.

Not only are the core actors returning for Tron: Ascencion, but even director Joseph Kosinski is going to work his magic behind the camera again. He assured that the sequel will pick right where Legacy left off.

"This is a story we've been working on... four years now. I'm really excited about the idea that we have for it," he said. "I think it delivers on the promise that both Tron movies have made. It opens the movie up, in a way that I think is going to give it a much broader appeal.

Kosinski said that the end of the previous film catered the most to Tron fans, but what they have cooked up in the sequel is going to broaden the franchise in "really exciting ways."

The director believes in the sequel so much that he even compared the story pitch to "Empire Strikes Back," and he said that he will only work on the franchise if the story made it worthwhile.

The last Tron movie managed to make $400 million worldwide in box office numbers, and Disney has big plans on beating that number with the sequel.

The original writers of Tron: Legacy, Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis earlier said that a sequel is in the works but they will not be writing it since they will be busy with the show Once Upon a Time. Horowitz said that the task has fallen on Dave DiGilio.

When asked if the character of Kevin Flynn will return in the sequel, and Horowitz teasingly replied: "I would say the definition of life and death in the digital realm will be explored in the sequel!"
