TV host Giuliani Rancic speaks up about the controversy over her comments about Zendaya Coleman’s red-carpet look at the 2015 Oscars event.

In an interview for the Monday episode of the ‘Today’ show to endorse her new memoir ‘Going Off Script,’ Rancic claimed that she did not make a racist comment. Rather, the editing of her comments resulted to what turned out to be a harsh and offensive remark.

"It's something I want to be really clear about what happened because I've never really spoken out about it. I made a reference to the hippie culture,” Rancic emphasized.

The 40-year-old TV host insisted that she talked about patchouli oil as a hippie perfume and that she made peace signs and mentioned the term ‘bohemian’ twice. However, in the editing process of such ‘Fashion Police’ episode, many of her comments were taken out. As a result, when her joke aired, it turned out to be a ‘racist’ remark that eventually sparked outrage among Zendaya’s fans.

"I find racism reprehensible. I don't tolerate it at all nor have I ever,” Rancic explained. “And I think that's really important for me to get that out there, because that's been the hardest part of all of this is that someone could believe that I have racial undertones in the things that I do.”

Offering these explanations, Bill Rancic’s wife felt that it was of great importance to provide the real details including the story behind the show’s edition process and her left-out comments. She then concluded that her joke about Zendaya’s hair had not been edited properly to give the remarks full context.

Rancic also mentioned that ‘Fashion Police’ would make a comeback on September. When asked whether she would still be included as one of the show’s hosts, she paused for a while and merely said, “We’ll see.”

Opening up about her weight loss, Rancic explained that such body changes can be attributed to cancer medications which she has been taking for a while. The TV personality also emphasized that she does not suffer from any eating disorder. She even responded to Twitter critics who have been urging her to “eat a burger.”

"I eat burgers. It's still not working,” Rancic said.

She said she opted to talk about her weight loss as the subject has been very distracting for her. She shared her experiences of doing red-carpet shows and enjoying such moments only to find out several hours later that many social media users criticize her for her weight, and not for the interviews that she makes during special events and shows.
