The nominations for the 42nd annual Daytime Emmy Awards are now in, and ABC's General Hospital is leading the pack with a total of 28 nominations, which includes best drama and several bids for lead actor and lead actresses categories.

According to Variety, the Ellen DeGeneres Show is also one to contend with after garnering a total of 10 bids while newcomer The Wendy Williams Show managed to receive nominations for Best Entertainment Talk Show and Entertainment Talk Show Host.

CBS is another big player in this year's Emmy Awards. Among all the networks, its shows received 62 nominations, followed by PBS with 50, syndicated series also with 50, ABC with 35, and finally NBC with 20.

CBS's The Young and the Restless pulled in 25 nominations for the network, while The Bold and the Beautiful managed to get 19 nominations.

Incidentally, the Young and the Restless, Bold and the Beautiful and Days of Our Lives are all competing in the best drama category.

The competition for top entertainment talk show host, meanwhile, is more tight. DeGeneres seems to be a popular pick but she is going against the hosts from The Talk, Live with Kelly and Michael, and The Wendy Williams Show.

These talk show hosts are Kelly Ripa, Michael Strahan, Williams, Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Aisha Tyler, and Sheryl Underwood.

As for the game show category, it seems to be a competition between CBS's The Price is Right, Family Feud, and Jeopardy.

The game show host category is another interesting competition, with Craig Ferguson earning a nomination for his series Celebrity Name Game. He will be going against Feud's Steve Harry, Wheel of Fortune's Pat Sajak, and Todd Newton of Discovery Family Channel's Family Game Night.

As for the Children's Animated Program category, it's a competition among Netflix's All Hail King Julien, PBS's Arthur, Nickelodeon's The Fairly OddParents,  and Nickelodeon's Sanjay & Craig.

For the Special Class Animated Program, it's a choice between Disney XD's Phineas and Ferb Save Summer and Netflix's Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The 42nd Daytime Emmys will be held at the Warner Bros lot and  is scheduled to air on April 26. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences hopes to generate more buzz about this year's event, following last year's dismal ceremony, which was only aired as a webcast. Several of the Emmy winners were not even present to receive their awards last year.
