Walt Disney Company CEO Bog Iger announced the news about The Incredibles 2 back in March 2014, but so far no further news was given about its release date, storyline, and cast.
Fans cannot wait to see what the Parr family will be up to in the sequel, so Cinema Blend gathered all the updates it could concerning the upcoming film to satiate fans' curiosities and excitement towards the animated film.
Brad Bird, who is the writer and director of the first movie, will be developing the story for the sequel. He will be back working on animated films after working on Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and Tomorrowland.
Pixar already reserved two release dates - November 22, 2017 and June 15, 2018 - but for which movies, they did not say. It is safe to assume that one of these dates was chosen for The Incredibles 2 while the other could possibly be for Cars 3.
As for the characters, it would be interesting to discover what new talents and abilities they learn about themselves right after a satisfying end in the first movie. Bob Parr, also known as Mr. Incredible (voiced by Craig T. Nelson), was the first one to miss all the exciting things he did as a superhero in the first movie, so it is curious to find out how he is feeling now that the whole family is back in action.
His wife, Helen Parr, also known as Elastigirl (voiced by Holly Hunter), has the ability to stretch and protect her family. It feels like her third child is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the sequel, and it is uncertain how she is going to approach this new development.
Dashiell Robert Parr, nicknamed Dash, was forced to restrain his powers of speed in the first film, but his parents have somewhat loosened their restraint. Spencer Fox voiced Dash in the original movie, and it is not clear whether he'll be back for the next movie, or whether his character grows up or maintains his age.
His sister, Violet Parr, was a shy teenager who hides her face with her hair. She was seen overcoming her awkwardness at the end of the film, even landing a date with her crush, Tony Rydinger. Voiced by Sarah Vowell, the invisible girl with the power to create force fields would definitely be a completely different character in the sequel.
The youngest Parr kid, Jack-Jack, just might be the most powerful superhero of the bunch since he has super strength, laser vision, has the ability to shape shift, change mass, phase through objects, teleport, and even light himself up on fire. After the first Incredibles movie wrapped up, there were lot of talks that Jack-Jack will take the lead in the sequel.
Additionally, actor Samuel L. Jackson did say that he has been talking with Bird to reprise his role as the Parr family friend Frozone in The Incredibles 2, so that leaves the question - who will be the villain?
The Underminer, who was first introduced in the original movie, is a possibility. His character is voiced by John Ratzenberger, a Pixar favorite, so even though he is not going to be the main villain, a cameo in the second film is almost a guarantee already.
