Google has begun rolling out the Android 5.1 Lollipop for its Nexus line of smartphones.

Users of Nexus 6 can get the operating system update through T-Mobile, according to Android Headlines.

The telecom company started unveiling the update on March 16. Through the firm, those who own a Nexus 6 smartphone can download the update as an OTA file. Android Headlines noted that the update is the LMY47M version and is only available for the T-Mobile editions of the Nexus 6.

Other carriers such as AT&T have previously announced that it will be releasing the update to users soon. Also, the Nexus 6 devices from Verizon already come with the Android 5.1.

The Nexus 6, which also functions as a phablet, was first unveiled by Google in November of last year and came with the Android 5.0 Lollipop.

However, shortly after its release, a number of users complained about various issues and bugs connected with the mobile device. Some of these include randomly rebooting, weak Bluetooth connectivity and battery drain.

As a solution, Google developed the Android 5.1 Lollipop update which solved most of the problems of its predecessor. But despite unveiling a new version of the update, some users are still complaining about certain issues with the Android 5.1, Gotta be Mobile reported.

Aside from fixing some of the glitches, the update also comes with improved features for the Nexus device such as HD voice support, enhanced settings system, better notifications mode and a protected factory reset function.

The Nexus 6 is not the only member of the Nexus family to receive the latest update from Google. Other models, such as the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 10 are already starting to get Android 5.1. As for the users of the Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 9 Wi-Fi, Nexus 9 LTE, they may have to wait a bit longer before being able to download the latest update for their devices, according to International Business Times.
