'Furious 7' star Vin Diesel announced the name of his newborn daughter on NBC’s Today Monday. Her name is Pauline, in memory of former co-star Paul Walker. Diesel and Walker were co-stars on the American street racing action movie franchise, The Fast and the Furious.

"I named her Pauline," said Diesel in an interview with news anchor Natalie Morales. "There's no other person that I'm thinking about as I'm cutting this umbilical cord," he added. "I knew he was there and I felt like, you know, a way to keep his memory a part of my memory, a part of my world."

Pauline was born on Monday, March 16. She is Diesel’s third child with longtime girlfriend Paloma Jiménez. His other two children are Vincent Sinclair and Hania Riley Sinclair.

The movie franchise is owned by Universal Pictures. It is a franchise of seven movies, two short films and video games.

Walker died in a car crash at Valencia, CA on November 30, 2013. He was 38 years old. Walker was in the passenger seat of a red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT. The crash was filmed by a nearby security camera.

Walker and the driver were on their way to Walker’s charity event called Reach Out Worldwide. Reach Out Worldwide is a nonprofit organization that raises funds for victims of Typhoon Haiyan in Haiti. 'Furious 7' was in the filming stage when Walker died.

Diesel naming his daughter Pauline is a tribute to Walker’s life and the impact he had on the world.

"When the tragedy happened, I lost my best friend," Diesel said at an early screening of the film. "I lost my brother."

Walker will always be a part of the Diesel family and will be remembered through Pauline’s name.

The filming of 'Furious 7' halted at Walker’s death as Universal Pictures waited on the response of family members. Walker’s brothers Caleb and Cody helped with the rest of the shooting for the film by standing in.

"This was a labor of love," he added. "It was in some ways the hardest movie I ever had to do."

Furious 7 premiers in theaters on Friday, April 3.
