Comedian Kevin Hart's name has been gaining speedy popularity for the past couple of years, after the actor starred in a string of well-loved comedy films such as Ride Along, The Wedding Ringer, About Last Night, and Think Like a Man.

Soon, he will be starring in another comedy called Get Hard with Will Ferrell, where his character will "train" Ferrell's character to get tough in time for his stint in prison. The two characters generate a lot of laughs with their misadventures, and fans eagerly await how long Hart's character can keep up appearances as an ex-con.

But aside from his movies, there is one thing Hart is seriously pursuing, and he even considers this particular move as the "next major step" in his career - hosting the Oscars 2016.

The actor is not coy about his interest to host the biggest acting awards night, and wants more and more people to generate buzz about his possible involvement.

"There's no 'might' about it; I definitely want to. I'm starting my campaign by just getting everybody to say it. That would be a major accomplishment. Right now, what I've done and the progress that I've made in my career, that's definitely the next major step," he told Philly in an interview.

Fellow comedian Neil Patrick Harris hosted the 2015 Oscars, and his stint unfortunately showed the lowest ratings in Oscars history. Harris, though well-loved by his fans, received mixed reviews for his performance.

Ellen DeGeneres served as the Oscars host in 2014, while other big names such as Seth MacFarlane, James Franco and Anne Hathaway, as well as Chris Rock and Billy Crystal hosted the awards show during previous years.

Hart is not daunted by the negative reviews the said Oscars hosts have received, and even takes it as a challenge to perform better. He already has a couple of ideas on how to shake things up for the grand night and get more people, particularly the youth interested in the show again.

"For a comedian to say that you've hosted the Oscars, to grace that stage with all those people in the room and you know, turn that event into a youthful night, I think it hasn't been done for quite some time and my goal is just to be able to do it and adapt to it, adapt to that environment, and at the same time, give a little spice to it. It'll be different," he guaranteed.
