Zac Efron had an early successful career but after a series of failed relationships and dealing with drug and alcohol addiction, he took a break from work in order to concentrate on getting well in rehab. But now, the hunky High School Musical actor is going back to work, and in his latest movie We Are Your Friends, he will be playing a disc jockey (DJ).

The actor shared in his Instagram account a photo of himself working on some DJ equipment. He captioned it, "One track. One dream. Throwback to #ZacEfron in DJ mode on the #WAYF set. #TBT #WeAreYourFriends #bts #ColeCarter"

According to IMDb, the film will be all about "a young DJ as he works on what he hopes will be his first hit track." It is a romantic drama heavy on electronic dance music and the Hollywood nightlife scene.

Efron will lead the cast as Cole Carter, and other young actors and actress include Emily Ratajkowski as Sophie, Jon Bernthal as Paige, Wes Bentley as James, Shiloh Fernandez as Ollie, Johnny Weston as Mason, Vanessa Lengies as Mel, Diana Prince, Alicia Coppola, and many others.

We Are Your Friends is being helmed by Warner Brothers while Studiocanal is financing it. It will be directed and written by Max Joseph, co-written by Meaghan Oppenheimer. The film started production last August 18 in the San Fernando Valley.

It will be distributed and released in the UK, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, South America, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, and more.

For his role, Efron has been seen hanging out with real-live DJs such as Alesso, Dillon Francis, DallasK, Nicky Romero, and Dirty South to learn how to be a true DJ. In fact, Alesso will be appearing in the film as himself.

Fans even got a huge treat while the crew was filming the movie, since the production team decided to provide a huge free show in Los Angeles headlined by Romero and Dirty South and use the footage of that rave for the film.

Efron shot to fame for playing the lead role Troy in the highly popular Disney Channel Original movie High School Musical alongside ex-girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens.

Since then, Efron has starred in a series of films including Hairspray, 17 Again, Me and Orson Welles, Charlie St. Cloud, New Year's Eve, The Lucky One, That Awkward Moment, and Neighbors. The actor even lent his voice in the animated film The Lorax.
