Microsoft revealed that the massively multiplayer online space simulator game "Elite: Dangerous" will arrive for the Xbox One console sometime in the summer of this year.

The announcement was made by Xbox division head Phil Spencer during this year's Game Developers' Conference, according to Engadget.

"Elite: Dangerous" is the latest installment of the 32-year-old "Elite" game series by Frontier Developments. Designed by David Braben, the creation of the game began through a Kickstarter campaign and after collecting millions of dollars from the public, "Elite: Dangerous" was official launched exclusively for the PC on Dec. 16, 2014.

In the game, players take on the role of starship pilots to explore an open-world space setting that's a 1:1 scale of the Milky Way Galaxy. In fact, "Elite: Dangerous" allows players to travel to around 400 billion star systems. 150,000 of these are based on actual astronomical data collected by real-world space agencies.

Aside from space explorations, "Elite: Dangerous" gamers can also engage in trades, piracy, assassinations, battles and bounty-hunting.

Recently, during the GDC event held in San Francisco, Spencer revealed that Xbox One gamers will soon experience the realistic space simulator game. He noted that all of the features of "Elite: Dangerous" for the PC will also be included in the Xbox One edition. These include content updates that will be released for the PC version.

"'Elite: Dangerous' for Xbox One will include all content added to the PC version by February's Community Goals content update and March's Wings content update," Spencer said in a press release, according to Gaming Trend.

"Available for next week on PC, Wings unites players to cooperate and collaborate across the galaxy and share in the rewards together," he added. "Wings will empower players to help friends on a risky trade run, spread out to map systems or hunt prey, and work together to reshape the galaxy."
