Apple has rolled out the beta version of the highly anticipated OS X Yosemite 10.10.3, which will enable the public to test the new Photos app included in the update.
Officially titled as build 14D87p, this beta version of the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 has now been made available for users who joined the free OS X Beta Program. As such, public beta testers can now download the update.
According to Apple, testers should have the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 beta version installed on a computer which they can easily wipe out if necessary. Moreover, testers should also come up with a backup for their Mac computers as they install and check out the beta software.
The OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 has been a highly anticipated update as it brings in the new Photos app, which is deemed as a more impressive replacement to the old iPhoto app.
This new app for images will bring a more organized photo library for users and will feature an extensive range of photo editing tools which can be easily accessed. Therefore, Mac owners now have greater control over the precision that they want to incorporate into image editing.
Thanks to the Photos app, users will also be able to conveniently upload their photos and videos to the cloud using the iCloud Photo Library. They will also have access to the content uploaded from any of their Apple devices.
Additionally, Apple mentioned that the new app will enable the browsing of images based on location, time, and date through the Moments, Collections and Years views.
Users can also go through image libraries by using tabs as well as upload content to the iCloud Photo Library without changing the format and resolution. For those interested in creating and compiling their own works, the new Photos app can be used for generating picture books and purchasing prints in various sizes.
Following its announcement last month, the beta version of the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 was first tested by developers. The new Photos app now puts forward a fresh interface for OS X systems, resembling the Photos app in iPhones and iPads.
The Photos app may signify Apple's increased focus on bringing a uniform experience for their users regardless of the platforms they are using as opposed to offering dissimilar designs across different platforms in the past.
As the beta version download is only limited to those who have signed up for the OS X Beta Program, the general public will be getting their hands on the final OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 version this spring by simply checking the Updates tab of the App Store for Mac.
